DEMENTIA VOLUNTEER
Fiene's partner has Alzheimer's disease. Gerard's wife has Lewy Body Dementia. Meike cares for her mother with vascular dementia. They are all informal caregivers; they care for someone close to them for a long time. Dementia is an insidious disease that has a major impact. Not only on the person with dementia themselves, but also on their loved ones. Dementia makes people increasingly unable to take care of themselves. Informal caregivers often gradually take over many tasks and care. What informal caregivers often forget is also to make time for themselves to recharge their batteries. Do you ensure that the caregiver can continue to provide care? As a dementia volunteer, you temporarily take over the care tasks of the informal caregiver. You keep the loved one with dementia company and, in consultation, you do something fun together. By relieving the caregiver, he or she can recharge the battery. You will see that this gives you a nice feeling too. Actually, all volunteers at BredaMantelzorg experience this. Read their stories here. We appreciate our volunteers! BredaMantelzorg therefore offers a versatile guidance program. With interesting training courses, but also informal meetings, drinks, etc. Before you start, you will receive a course. You will learn everything you need to do your volunteer work well. Such as listening carefully and setting boundaries. You will be guided by a coordinator. You can always contact him/her with questions, comments, dilemmas or doubts. You will also receive a travel allowance and possibly an allowance for your telephone costs. Are you excited? And do you want more information? Then leave your details below. We will then contact you as soon as possible. BredaMantelzorg provides free information, advice and support to everyone in Breda who cares for someone else on a long-term basis. When people in the area cannot help, BredaMantelzorg volunteers provide support.
